Start with the move—not the company
Write down the facts before requesting estimates. Include every pickup and delivery address, stairs, elevators, long walks, storage stops, oversized pieces, packing needs, closing dates, and building restrictions. A mover cannot price what you have not disclosed.
- List high-value and fragile items separately.
- Photograph rooms, access points, and specialty pieces.
- Confirm elevator and loading-dock hours with the building.
- Decide whether you need packing, storage, unpacking, or debris removal.
Verify the business behind the name
Advertising names can differ from legal names. Ask for the legal business name and Florida mover registration number, then verify the record yourself. For an interstate move, also check the federal registration and whether you are hiring a carrier or a broker.
A website, wrapped truck, or large review count does not replace registration and insurance verification.
Compare written scopes, not totals
Put estimates side by side. One may include materials, travel, valuation coverage, disassembly, and placement while another leaves those charges open. Ask each mover to correct omissions before you decide.
- How many movers and trucks are included?
- When does billable time start and stop?
- Which supplies and specialty services are included?
- What circumstances can change the final price?
- Who approves additional work?
Ask how problems are handled
Good movers explain their claims procedure before the move. Ask who receives damage reports, what documentation is required, what coverage applies, and how quickly claims are acknowledged. Look for review patterns about resolution—not merely whether an accident ever occurred.
Make the final decision
Choose the company that gives you the clearest written plan, answers questions directly, verifies properly, and demonstrates the right experience for your belongings and property. Keep your signed documents and inventory accessible on move day.
Verify it yourself
Requirements can change. These official sources are the best place to confirm current information.
