Before loading
Photograph furniture from several angles, record existing damage, save serial numbers, and keep receipts or appraisals for important pieces. Review any mover-prepared inventory before signing it.
During the move
Keep contracts and inventories with you. Report new property damage or handling concerns promptly and photograph them without interfering with safe work.
At delivery
Check item counts, box condition, furniture condition, and rooms before the truck leaves. Note missing or visibly damaged items on the delivery paperwork when possible, but do not rely only on verbal notice.
Submitting a claim
Follow the mover's written claim instructions. Identify each item, describe the damage, state the requested resolution, and attach photos, inventory records, receipts, appraisals, and repair estimates as applicable.
Keep a complete record
Save the estimate, contract, bill of lading, inventory, valuation selection, payment proof, photographs, emails, texts, and claim correspondence. Send important notices in a way that proves when they were delivered.
