Who are you hiring?
Ask for the legal business name, physical address, Florida registration number, and—when crossing state lines—the federal USDOT information. Ask whether the company is a carrier or a broker.
How was the estimate calculated?
Ask the estimator to explain the inventory, access assumptions, crew size, truck count, expected hours, travel charges, supplies, valuation coverage, and exclusions.
- When does billable time begin and end?
- What can increase the price?
- Who may authorize added work?
- Will the final terms be provided in writing?
How will the home and belongings be protected?
Ask who supplies furniture pads, mattress protection, TV boxes, floor covering, door protection, and elevator padding. Discuss specialty pieces separately instead of assuming ordinary handling applies.
Who handles problems?
Request the claims instructions before the move. Ask where written notice is sent, what documents are needed, which valuation option applies, and who provides status updates.
What happens if plans change?
Ask about closing delays, storm postponements, storage diversions, elevator problems, date changes, cancellations, and rescheduling fees. The answer should match the written agreement.
