Ask about unsafe conditions
Discuss how the mover handles lightning, flooding, strong wind, extreme heat, and driving hazards. Safety pauses can be necessary even when rain alone would not stop the move.
Protect the route
Keep entrances clear and identify slippery tile, pavers, ramps, docks, stairs, and pool areas. Confirm the plan for floor covering and for removing wet protection before it creates a hazard.
Protect sensitive items
Heat and humidity can affect wine, artwork, photographs, instruments, candles, electronics, leather, wood, and documents. Identify them before the estimate and ask about packing, transit, and storage conditions.
Protect the people
Allow reasonable water and cooling breaks, especially during long carries or upper-floor work. Keep children and pets away from open doors, equipment, wet floors, and truck paths.
Pack an essentials backup
Keep dry clothes, towels, medication, water, chargers, documents, and several days of necessities with you in case weather slows the truck or delays access.
