Begin with the new floor plan

Measure rooms, doors, elevators, storage, and furniture before deciding what will move. Mark the intended location of each retained piece so the crew can place it correctly the first time.

Separate decisions from packing

Create clear groups for moving, family, sale, donation, disposal, and undecided items. Labeling decisions before packers arrive reduces confusion and prevents sentimental or important belongings from leaving through the wrong path.

Choose one move-day decision-maker

When several relatives or representatives are involved, designate one person to approve changes. Share the inventory, floor plan, addresses, access rules, and mover contact information with that person.

Protect comfort and safety

Keep medication, mobility equipment, documents, hearing or vision aids, chargers, food, water, and an overnight bag outside the shipment. Arrange a quiet, safe location away from open doors and moving equipment.

Set up the essentials first

Prioritize the bed, seating, bathroom supplies, lighting, phone, medical equipment, clothing, and a familiar group of personal items. Confirm whether unpacking, debris removal, or additional placement is included in writing.
